This past weekend was our annual Grayling Christmas Walk and in addition to getting our first snow, we also were the recipients of the Clark Griswold Decorating Challenge!
For all those who missed this fantastic event, you missed out on something wonderful! From the moment this day started to the time it ended, all we saw was smiling faces and friendly people. Snow just helped to get people in the mood. Despite the 40 mph winds, the spirit, the food, the drink and the fun activities couldn’t stop this event from being a 100% success!
I have lived in Grayling and been a part of this community since 1984 when my father got a job here as a city police officer. Since then, Grayling has been our home. My family stayed and despite moving away for a time, I came back and brought someone else with me. Those of us who live here know our community sometimes struggles, like all small towns. We all have issues and small town life has its ups and downs which leads me to this post. For as long as I have lived here, never have I ever felt more at one with my community than on this day!
Since Tip’n the Mitten opened, we have been blessed with many supportive locals and non locals alike. As small business owners however in our community, we have been pleasantly surprised at how many great locals we never knew and who now are some of our biggest supporters! These folks are some of the same folks who came together this Saturday to make this local event one for the books!
Last minute needs were always met, questions were always answered with a smile and everyone went that extra mile to show us all, no matter what happens and what we all agree or disagree with, we CAN work together!
As we head into the holiday season with Thanksgiving coming up this week and Christmas and a New Year just around the corner, we would like to take this moment out of our busy schedule to say THANK YOU GRAYLING!
Thanks for being a wonderful group of people willing to help when our community needs it the most. We are blessed to be a part of this community and both of us here at Tip’n the Mitten would like to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving!
Don’t forget to come downtown next year for another FANTASTIC Christmas Walk :)!
