We have made it through 10 of the dozens of amazing vendors we offer here at Tip’n the Mitten. It only seems fitting that for this milestone, we would feature yet another vendor who has long been a part of our store. Located in Grand Haven, MI, this great craftsman is definitely into recycling.
Named Recycled Highway, owner James works with license plates from around the country. Of course for us, he uses strictly Michigan plates ranging from decades ago to more recently. His story is a good one.
From Recycled Highway’s website:
“Just before Christmas one year, we needed a Secret Santa gift and wanted to do something unique, something with some feeling behind it, something that showed a sense of … not the same as everything else.
We had a few license plates and quickly found local suppliers for more as we went beyond our original goal really quickly. Once we started doing a sign here and there for a few acquaintances, we started to get calls for a custom sign or two and just kept expanding.”
To date, we have had him make us clocks, GIANT 3 foot tall Michigan’s, smaller Michigan’s, signs that say HOME, DEER CAMP, UP NORTH and even GRAYLING, just to name a few. He is always willing to work with us and ready to do something new at a moments notice! In fact, just recently we had a couple stop into the store and ask if he could do an MSU with green plates on rustic barn wood. Despite his busy schedule and the fact that it was a weekend, he said yes and even had it ready for us to pick up when we were passing through Grand Haven on Sunday!
James does amazing art that looks great no matter where it is! We are happy to have Recycled Highway here at Tip’n the Mitten and look forward to many more years of his work right here in our store!
